Here's a look at some of Hawaii’s best hidden gems.


04.14-16:Celebration of the Arts. When it comes to Hawaii cultural gatherings, this is the real deal. The destination's top artisans, teachers and entertainers present panel discussions, workshops, hands-on crafts, food, music and dance at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.



04.19-22:Hawaii Arts, Crafts and Food Festival. Hawaii's multicultural makeup reigns at this Hilo bash at Nani Maui Gardens, where 100 booths display island creativity at its best. It's timed with the Merrie Monarch Festival, a prestigious hula competition.


04.28-29: Big Island Chocolate Festival. Chocolate takes center stage at this sweet event at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, with a cacao plantation tour, seminars and demonstrations. The closing gala features culinary stations, chocolate body painting and more.



04.1: Grove Farm Old Time Games. Grove Farm Museum in Lihue, which is a former plantation homestead, hosts age-old fun and games, including potato-sack races, egg and spoon races and pie-eating contests. Families can also enjoy the miniature-horse petting zoo, puppet shows and a fortune teller.


04.7-8: Garden Island Orchid Society Spring Fantasy Show. Flower fans in Hanapepe have a bloomin' good time at this free event at United Church of Christ, with its exotic blossoms, orchid-oriented crafts, potting demonstrations and Kauai artists and music.



04.8: Sea Life Park Twilight Concert. The Windward Coast marine life park provides a stellar setting for a show under the stars by some of Hawaii's top performers, including Kupaoa, Hapa, Willie K. and Na Leo Pilimehana.


04.29: Waikiki Spam Jam. Hawaii professes its love for the famous canned meat as Waikiki's Kalakaua Avenue becomes a high-energy block party. Vendors sell local crafts and Spam-themed souvenirs while two stages feature live music.
