06.9-11: Pan-Pacific Festival. Drummers, dancers and creative spirits from around the Pacific Rim share their cultures during performances and parties in Waikiki. A hoolaulea (street celebration) adds sizzle to Friday evening, and crowds cheer for the Sunday parade. 


06.1-4: Big Island Jazz & Blues Festival. The highlight of this annual boogie-fest at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a rollicking Saturday night concert. The 2017 lineup includes Grammy Award-winner Russell Malone, Jazz Hall of Famer Bobby Watson and The Iguanas from New Orleans. 


06.11: Kamehameha Festival. Each year, all of Hawaii takes a day to honor its first king. In Hilo town, festivities feature top local musicians and dancers, arts and crafts by talented islanders and savory treats.

06.4: Taste of Hawaii. This culinary festival takes place at Smith’s Tropical Paradise in Wailua and it bills itself as the Ultimate Sunday Brunch. Guests dig into specialties from 25 chefs and 15 beverage vendors while enjoying tunes by 10 bands. A silent auction is the icing on the cake. 


06.10: King’s Celebration. Kauai shows Kamehameha the Great some love by throwing a free outdoor party. It starts with a parade through Lihue, complete with flower-strewn horses. Also on tap: food, crafts, cultural demonstrations and entertainment at the County Building. 


06.8-11: Kapalua Wine & Food Festival. Local, national and international food and beverage gurus bring their products to Kapalua Resort in northwest Maui. Lovers of the good life attend cooking demonstrations, wine pairings and indulgent soirees. 


06.21-25: Maui Film Festival. Utah has Sundance, and France has Cannes, but this cinematic bash stands apart with its aloha spirit. Panels, parties, food events, actor tributes and screenings under the stars at Wailea Resort make this a must for movie fans.
