Volunteer in South Florida and New Orleans With Tourism Cares in 2018

The Details

Tourism Cares has announced that registration is open for its 2018 volunteer programs. With the intention of helping a recently impacted area as well as an area with a recovery success story, a program will be held in South Florida (May 10-11) and another in New Orleans (Sept. 20-21), respectively.

Why It Matters:
In a wonderful way of directly assisting destinations in need, both Tourism Cares members and nonmembers — including travel agents, buyers, suppliers and even clients — can participate in do-good programs. Besides volunteer work, scheduled activities will consist of education sessions and tours; opening and closing receptions; and opportunities for networking. Additional details on work projects anbe made available in early 2018. 

Fast Facts:
- Registration for each program costs $140 for members and $175 for nonmembers. Accommodations must be individually booked. 

- Current sponsors include AIG, Delta Air Lines, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, The Leisure Pass Group, National Tour Association, Cruise Line International Association, Signature Travel Network and U.S. Travel Association.

- According to Tourism Cares, the organization has enlisted the help of 7,000 volunteers who have donated 50,000 hours, which equates to $1 million in value. Additionally, 90 percent of attendees rank the Tourism Cares volunteer experience as highly satisfying.
